Lenovo                     Personal safety is the condition of being safe from injury or loss, which is not directly related to any specific type of work. It is a chief concern in large communities like Siriraj Hospital, with >10,000 workers in over 60 buildings.

Hard Drive                     Objectives: 1) To survey the level of personal safety perceived by members of the Siriraj Hospital community and the awareness of safety measures currently existing in their workplace; and 2) To survey the prevalence of unsafe events during the past five years, ranging from potential hazards, accidents, minor offenses to criminal acts.

Travelstar                     Materials & Methods : Fifteen hundred questionnaires were distributed to workers of all levels and all departments in Siriraj Hospital; 1,348 (89.9%) were returned. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics; chi-square test was used for data comparisons between groups.

Gateway                     Results: Seventy-three percent of the sample population thinks that their workplace is quite safe during the work time (0830-1630 hrs), but only 49.5% thought so for after-hours time. As expected, more men think that their workplace is safe than do women (77.51% vs 71.90%, p<0.005). The places perceived as the least safe at any time are construction sites (28.0% and 17.4% thinking as quite safe, during and after work time, respectively), basements (34.9% and 17.5% ) and the parking building (41.5% and 15.2%). The places with the most frequent complaints for lack of appropriate safety measures are elevators, construction sites, driveways, walkways and corridors (14.2%, 13.8%, 12.6%, 10.5% and 10.2% of total complaints). The minor unsafe events with the highest prevalence were those related to malfunctioning elevators (~30%) and pests (~14%). The major unsafe events with the highest prevalence were thefts (~10%). However, there were more serious crimes, e.g. physical attacks and rapes (only <1% and <0.1%) which were not always reported. Data were also analyzed separately for each building.

Laptop Parts                     Conclusions: Most workers in Siriraj Hospital think that their workplace is quite safe during working hours. However, there are numerous potentially unsafe sites which still need more appropriate safety measures, most notably in public places, e.g. elevators, construction sites and passages. The occurrence of more serious crimes necessitates serious prevention.

Repair                     Cardiovascular autonomic function test is a set of tests for assessing the part of autonomic nervous system (both sympathetic and parasympathetic) that controls the cardiovascular system. Heart rate, as monitored by electrocardiography (ECG), and blood pressure are recorded during a series of manipulations, such as standing up or deep breathing, and the changes in both parameters are interpreted. The main purpose of this project is to digitize ECG signals and develop a computer program for automating signal analysis in cardiovascular autonomic function test, thus reducing the analysis time. Additionally, digitized ECG signals also have the advantage of being transferable via local area networks (LANs) or the internet to another remote site for, e.g., viewing, consultation (telemedicine), or teaching.

Data Recovery                     Initially, Matlab program was used for developing and testing the R wave detection algorithm. ECG strips were scanned, converted to digital data (DigXY program), and then resampled by Matlab. Subsequently, analog ECG signals, obtained directly from a portable ECG recorder (Cardiosuny 501B, Fukuda), were digitized by a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter card (PC30AT, Amplicon Liveline). The sampling rate was 200 Hz, which was sufficient to avoid aliasing. (The frequency spectrum of ECG signals are around 3-40 Hz.) The algorithm to detect R wave could be divided into two steps, digital filtering and peak detection. Digital filtering was needed to screen out the baseline shift in the ECG caused by patients movement. Finite impulse response (FIR) filter was used to screen out unwanted signals with frequency below 8 Hz; the frequency spectrum of R wave is higher than 8 Hz. The peak detection algorithm to determine the positions of R wave was the window shift method and slope changing. R-R interval data were then used to calculate parameters of the cardiovascular autonomic function tests. ECG and the test parameters could be saved to computer files for future reference. The user interface of the program was Graphic User Interface (GUI), developed with Delphi language, and run under Windows environment.

Cisco                     The program will be implemented in the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, in substitution for manual analysis currently done as routine service. Future applications of the program will include teaching and research on cardiovascular autonomic function test.
