BOULDER, Colo., May 16, 2005 - Webroot Software, Inc., the leading provider of anti-spyware software and other security technologies for consumer and enterprise markets, today announced the appointment of software and technology marketing veteran, Vinay Goel to the new position of Vice President of Global Marketing.
Goel most recently served as the Director of Worldwide Field and Channel Marketing for Check Point Software, a leading company in the global consumer and enterprise firewall markets in 88 countries. Goel was responsible for lead generation, advertising, corporate events and channel marketing.

"As competition in the anti-spyware space becomes increasingly dynamic, Webroot will require marketing strategies and programs that will defend and grow our leadership position - both in the U.S. and internationally," said David Moll, CEO of Webroot. "We are extremely pleased to welcome Vinay to that challenge and have every confidence his skills will become a significant asset to our marketing effort."

Prior to Check Point Software, Goel held executive positions at several technology companies including Sega of America, VTEL Corporation and Microware Systems. Goel holds a Management degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, in addition to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from UC Berkeley.

"I am honored to be a part of Webroot's leadership team, the worldwide leader in best-of-breed anti-spyware solutions," said Goel. "I look forward to working on extending our market leadership and providing customers with the most advanced proactive spyware protection."

A three-time recipient of PC Magazine's Editors' Choice Award, Webroot Spy Sweeper has an installed base of more than five million users and is powered by Phileas, Webroot's automated spyware research system designed specifically to root out and identify spyware anywhere on the web. Webroot has also received great acclaim for its corporate anti-spyware counterpart, Webroot Spy Sweeper Enterprise, which enables administrators to centrally manage security threats across enterprises of any size and has sold more than one million licenses of its solution since its launch in June 2004.

Last week Webroot released the anti-spyware industry's first comprehensive report on spyware, The State of Spyware Report, an in-depth review and analysis of the impact of spyware, adware and unwanted software on consumers and enterprises. A copy of the report is available at www.webroot.com/stateofspyware.
