TeraMEDICA Appoints Prekop as New President
Laptop Battery By WTN News • 02/18/04 Milwaukee, Wis. -- TeraMEDICA announced today Jim Prekop as president of the Milwaukee-based medical informatics company.
Prekop joins TeraMEDICA from Peoplesoft where he recently served as vice president and general manager of global accounts. Prior to joining Peoplesoft, Prekop spent 14 years with Dun & Bradstreet Corporation.
Chief Executive Officer Christopher Hanna.said that the move will allow him to focus his expertise on clinical advances that will help the company lead the market going forward.
TeraMEDICA, Inc. develops enterprise software and integrates systems capable of networking large numbers of diagnostic imaging devices, picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), enterprise image storage components and clinical desktops with image viewing software to create an "Enterprise Imaging Infrastructure" that manages medical image data across an entire hospital or multi-facility healthcare system. The company was organized in 2001 by the CEO, Chris Hanna, and Mason Wells Private Equity to commercialize technology developed out of work done at the Mayo Clinic Radiology Informatics Laboratory.
What is a Network Interface Card (NIC) The most important PC device is the network interface card (NIC). Each computer on the network, including the servers, is required to have one installed. It is the NIC that provides connectivity between the PC and the network's physical medium, optic cable. Most of the new motherboards available today for PCs and servers have the network interface card integrated with the motherboard. Older computers and some newer computers do not provide onboard network interfaces which will equire a NIC to be added.
