Supermicro Leads With High-end SATA RAID 5 64-bit Xeon Server Solutions
High Capacity SATA Server Solutions to Be Showcased at Intel Developers Forum & CeBIT 2005
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- To further enhance its industry- leading line of Intel-based server products, Supermicro Computer is currently supplying the industry with a full line of SATA-optimized 64-bit Xeon servers. These new SATA solutions support ZCR with SATA RAID 5. Designed for high- density storage solutions, Supermicro 1U SuperServers support up to 1.6 terabytes total storage capacity via four hot-swappable SATA drives.
The most impressive new SATA server is the SuperServer 6014P-TR, the world's first 1U redundant-powered SATA system. This system also features redundant storage with SATA RAID 5 enabled and redundant cooling with intelligent fan speed control. With four hot-swap drive bays, six DDR DIMM slots that support ECC registered memory up to 24GB, and 560-watt redundant power, the 6014P-TR delivers much higher availability and reliability than any other 1U server today.
The 6014P-TR also supports one full-height, full-length PCI-Express x8 or PCI-X expansion card. Without redundant power (the 6014P-T model), this 1U server supports two full-height, full-length expansion cards with any combination of PCI-Express or PCI-X. An optional IPMI 2.0 server management with third gigabit NIC is available. Supermicro will showcase the 6014P-TR at both the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco, March 1-3 and at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany from March 10-16.
"Providing VARs with a flexible, easy-to-implement solution to address the broadening SATA opportunity is critical for their success in today's highly competitive market," said Charles Liang, president and CEO of Supermicro. "Now, we offer SATA RAID solutions with our 1U, 2U, 3U, and 4U servers and NAS systems to provide VARs with the best choices."
With more than ten different SATA solutions, Supermicro is the only server manufacturer that offers a complete line of SATA servers and storage solutions. In addition to standard advantages such as 64-bit capability, 800MHz FSB and PCI-Express support, Supermicro's new SATA products also offer:
-- Up to 3.2 terabytes of storage space for 8-drive systems with optional
RAID 5 (or up to 6 terabytes for 3U storage configurations)
-- 100% air-cooling redundancy (maintaining 100% system performance even
after a key fan failure)
-- Up to 32GB memory capacity via 8 DIMM slots
-- IPMI 2.0 support for server management with optional 3rd gigabit NIC on
1U systems
-- Intelligent fan speed control
Supermicro strongly encourages its partners to accelerate their growth in market share and profit by leveraging the advantages of these products.
In general, customers are choosing the Serial-ATA interface because it not only offers competitive performance and reliability at a much lower cost than SCSI, but also provides much higher storage capacity while consuming less power.
As SATA integration into enterprise storage continues to grow in 2005, Supermicro is rapidly equipping its channel partners to leverage the very latest SATA technology and offer the best high-quality storage solutions well ahead of the competition.
