Electronics The task force found that the blackout was triggered by the failure of three high-voltage lines belonging to FirstEnergy. That led to a series of transmission-line failures that knocked out more than 263 power plants across the Midwest, Northeast and Ontario, the report said.
Canon FirstEnergy has criticized the interim report as incomplete and maintains that it shouldn't be singled out because other problems in the Midwest power grid factored into the blackout.
Desktop Pc The company offered the task force several suggestions to improve the complex power grid, including establishing mandatory reliability standards for all providers and improving monitoring of real-time power flow on the grid.
Desktop Computers Jones also said FirstEnergy plans a comprehensive study of the Lake Erie Loop, an electrical grid that includes the failed company lines.
Think Pad FirstEnergy also announced plans Wednesday to improve tree trimming around power lines, update computer software, improve communication with other utilities and better transmission operator training.
Repair The company will adopt a ``zero-tolerance'' policy when it comes to outages caused by trees, which would include dispatching more trimming crews and offering unspecified incentives for employees who help prevent such power failures, Jones said.
