Desktop Computer Byrams plan for 170 residential units, mixed-use retail space and a community green easily won the support of most of the committees nine members. As proposed, there would be 94 single-family homes, 40 apartments and 36 townhouses. Thirty-four of the units would be set aside to meet Byrams affordable housing requirements.

Gateway Planning Commission Chairman Timothy Touhey and Vice Chairwoman Michele Byers, who sit on the implementation committee, raised some questions about Byrams plan which township officials were able to answer sufficiently.

Software Byram Councilman Earl Riley said the green is focused around Lubbers Run, a category one stream where development is restricted within 300 feet. Riley said the township plans to purchase the green using open space funds for additional protection.

Desktop Pc Jeff Tittel, executive director of the Sierra Club's New Jersey chapter and an opponent of many center plans in Sussex County, recommended that Byram include more housing in the center to transfer development rights from elsewhere township.

Think Pad Danielson and Riley agreed they want to limit development outside of the center, which they believe will be possible due to the pending Highlands designation and by working with the landowners in the township. Riley said two landowners own all but 2,000 acres of the developable land in the township, and that those landowners are supportive of township growth plans.
Repair Four other center plans from Sussex County municipalities will be heard at the May 26 Plan Implementation Committee. Andover Township and Hampton, along with joint petitions from Branchville-Frankford and Hardyston-Franklin-Ogdensburg-Hamburg, have pending center plans.
