Whether it's DVD's or a USB Attached Removable Disk, we don't care. Again, we're "hardware agnostic", we will save to any media and of course, we will also allow you to save over the Internet. Maybe you have a VPN Connection to a Remote Server somewhere in Iron Mountain. Instead of having a truck come by every night and you load all your tapes into that truck and hope not of the tapes fall off the back, you could electronically send your images to some offsite location. laptop parts

Alan:

Talking about backing up. First of all, what kind of server or what type of equipment do we need to have installed in order to use the Enterprise Version What does it install on software

Stephen:

The Enterprise Version of Acronis True Image will install on any Wintel machine that's running one of the Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems. It could be Windows Server 2000, it could be 2003. It's one of the primary distinctions between Server product and the Workstation product. The Workstation product will only run on desktop operating systems. hard drives

Also, the product that's called Acronis True Image Server, not Enterprise Server. The distinction here is that the product that's just called Server is for standalone servers. If you have an SMB and maybe you only have four or five servers in your company and you don't necessarily require the capabilities of a Management Console and you're not worried about going out and managing hundreds or thousands of servers. You can save quite a bit of money, simply by buying standalone copies of Acronis True Image, they're not designed to work over a network, but you can still schedule your backups and do everything you can with the Enterprise product. The difference is that you'll save roughly 30%. electronics

Alan:

And so Workstation Edition, you basically can back up multiple workstations, but you need a license per each workstation. And the Server Edition works exactly the same, except that it backs up servers, right canon

Stephen:

That's correct. We used to call it Corporate Workstation, now we just simply just call it Workstation. You automatically will get the Management Console with each copy of Workstation that you purchase. So, if you're going to be backing up say, 100 networked desktops, you would need to buy 100 copies of the software, but all you need to do is put just the agent out on 99 of those desktops. And then you can manage everything from one management console. With the Enterprise Server Edition, it works exactly the same way. You put an agent out on each of the network servers and you can manage them from a single management console. The console in fact can manage both servers and workstations. And the console can be virtually anything. It could be a laptop, it could be a desktop, and it could be a server. It really doesn't matter. desktop pc

PneuDraulics, Inc. has been supplying the aerospace industry with high quality hydraulic system components for over 50 years. PneuDraulics' hydraulic system components are used worldwide on military, commercial and commuter aircraft as well as on helicopters, business jets and spacecraft. Eric Saville and Ray Hunt founded PneuDraulics, Inc. in the mid-fifties when they recognized the need for a high quality supplier of precision hydraulic components for the aerospace Industry. desktop computers

Following a thoughtful growth process fueled by evolving expertise and an ongoing extension of the product line, PneuDraulics has become a preeminent player in aerospace industry and has earned a reputation as a highly effective, responsive and problem solving organization. think pad

All disciplines, from conceptualization of design and developmental engineering to state of the art manufacturing under rigid quality control standards, are performed in the PneuDraulics facility. The result is a fully integrated operation that produces the highest quality hydraulic components available to the aerospace industry today. repair

PneuDraulics was seeking a single backup and restore solution that could backup numerous servers to network drives. The solution needed to be fast, reliable, and not dependent on the operating system to restore a server. Finally, the company was looking for a solution that could restore from a boot CD. Most of the products PneuDraulics evaluated relied on Windows to be up and running for a restore. Acronis True Image Server was selected because of its straightforward interface, easy manageability, fast restore times, and the ability to restore images using a燽oot燙D. data recovery

PneuDraulics created a pilot to test the software. One server was backed up and restored in a number of different ways. The first test was to backup and restore the server from the Acronis Secure Zone. The restore was quite fast, however, the company wanted to test the product's ability to backup and restore a server from a network-based drive. The server was restored quickly from the network-based drive in just under 12 minutes for 8 GB of data. PneuDraulics was quite impressed with the speed of the restore. The final step was a restore from the network using the Acronis boot CD. This final round of tests worked perfectly and the company moved forward with implementation. cisco

Server Downtime Eliminated During Backup

PneuDraulics has successfully implemented Acronis True Image Server. Currently, 7 servers at Pnuedraulics are using Acronis True Image Server for backup and restoration, representing 80% of the servers in the organization. Each night all servers are backed up to a central storage location using removable SATA drive bays. The drives are then moved off-site for disaster recovery. For quick restoration that does not require pulling images from the offsite storage facility, the backup images are also saved to the Acronis Secure Zone, a special partition hidden from the operating system on the server. The company no longer has downtime associated with the backup process, as servers remain online during backup. Finally, no training of IT staff was required beyond the initial pilot program. keyboard

A strategy that provides shared local hardware but leaves users on their own is hardly optimal. But it can be modestly effective if you educate users about the need for backing up. Users are more comfortable backing up with hard drives than tape or optical media for a number of reasons: fear of disk swaps and tape rewind, bad memories of melted cassette tapes and so on. monitor

As a matter of fact, users tend to be too comfortable with external hard drives, not realizing that the backup drive is just as likely to fail as the drive it's backing up. If you're providing external hard drives, require or encourage rotation. A secondary internal hard drive, while subject to the same box-scale physical dangers as the primary drive, is a hedge against drive failure and malware attacks and avoids the threat of ham-handed employees. desktop

Despite the affinity many users feel for hard drives, a baseline backup to removable, storable CD or DVD is the appropriate first step for local backup. Hint: It's an easier sell if you tell users they need to do it only once. Just make sure they don't skip verification. The best practice is to provide a safe location for storing these backups, and they ideally should be cataloged by IT. infosys

If you decide on or are forced into a backup strategy that leaves users on their own, don't fail to educate them on backup do's and don'ts. Some users think they're safe backing up data to a different folder on the same partition. refurbished laptops

Even experienced users may fail to recognize the need for redundancy, rotating backups, password protection/encryption and simply backing up often enough. Better than education is education and assisted implementation - install or configure a local backup program for them that will run hands-off in the background. Spending 10 to 20 minutes now can save your department hours in the long run. wipro

Continuous Backup

If the data on a workstation or laptop is revision-intensive or constantly evolving, continuous backup is well worth considering. CDP is a hot feature these days and can be found in products such as Atempo Inc.'s LiveBackup/LiveServ and Tivoli Storage Manager and NetBackup. CDP on the desktop has become almost a boom market since vendors discovered Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service. NewTech Infosystems Inc.'s Shadow and Stardock Corp.'s KeepSafe, which back up designated files as they are saved or at frequent intervals, are just two examples. IBM has even broken out the CDP from Tivoli in order to market it to end users. Most CDP applications can store multiple revisions and, with the autosave feature, create an ad hoc document archiving system. lap top

"Computer industry analysts estimate that some 60 percent of all corporate data exists only on desktop and laptop computers, " said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "Incorporating Acronis True Image with New Mexico Software backup server is the ideal solution to capture that corporate data and ensure that it is not lost. While traditional server backups are effective for protecting server data, every company should have a combination of server and workstation backup plans."
