Laptop Battery With the nation on high alert for terrorists, it probably couldn't be a worse time for security officers at the nuclear plants here to be without a contract.
The company that supplies security to the Salem nuclear sites here has drawn a line in the sand with the security officers' saying settle by Feb. 23 or all bets are off. The deadline came in a letter dated Feb. 14. The letter, which was obtained by The Press of Atlantic City, came from Wackenhut Security Co., which supplies security to Salem I, Salem II and Hope Creek. It is from Guy E. Wegner, vice president of labor relations for Wackenhut, to Anthony Rizzo Jr., president of the United Government Security Officers of America, Local 14.

Microsoft Rizzo said the approximately 100 security officers have been working without a contract since Oct. 13.
According to the indictment, Jones would steal various IBM and Penguin computer servers from Verisign's warehouse in Virginia and sell them to Johnson. Johnson would then sell the servers to several individuals, who would sometimes place them for sale on eBay. As a result of this scheme, the indictment alleges that Jones and Johnson caused Verisign to lose more than $120, 000 worth of computer equipment. In the indictment, Jones and Johnson are charged in three counts with causing the interstate transportation of stolen property, namely IBM 330 and 335 servers, in violation of 18 U.S.C.

Laptop Computer The last offer by The Wackenhut Corp., which provides security for Public Service Electric Gas Nuclear, or PSEG, was Jan. 31. The union turned it down.

Desktop Computer "I'd still be making $2 less than a janitor," Rizzo explained.
Notebooks Despite the high tensions, Rizzo said the security officers would never strike.
Lenovo "I think they're trying to provoke us to strike, but there's not even been a mention of a strike vote. We'd be walking out on our own families. We would never do that," Rizzo said.
Hard Drive Rizzo, who has worked for Public Service Electric Gas Nuclear for more than 16 years, said the officers are armed with three different weapons, which he declined to name for security reasons.

Gateway PSEG operates three plants on the Lower Alloways Creek Township site in Salem County - Salem 1, Salem 2 and Hope Creek. The 100 security officers rotate their shifts at the three plants, Rizzo said.
Laptop Parts Contacted by The Press of Atlantic City on Friday, PSEG spokesman Skip Sindoni said, "They (the union is) working through the (negotiation) process, and when it is completed, we believe an agreement will be reached that will be in line with their peers in the (security) industry."
Software PSEG contracts with The Wackenhut Corp. for security. A phone call from The Press to Guy Wegener, vice president of labor relations, was not returned Friday.
Hard Drives The nuclear plants are considered to be high-risk targets for terrorist attacks.
