'Dazy head mazy' brings musical party to Marty's

Rootsy, pop-rock band 'dazy head mazy' is known for their captivating and energetic party atmosphere at shows. They will bring the party to Luther on Saturday, April 21. The show will begin at 8 :30 p.m. in Marty's.

The band is currently comprised of five members: Will Bauermeister on 12- string guitar and lead vocals; Andrew Clark on drums and background vocals; Justin Mishler on bass guitar; Ben Wilinski on mandolin, guitar and vocals and Cory Rae White on lead guitar.

'Dazy head mazy' formed in 1995 and finds its roots in Minneapolis, Minn. Their style has been classified as upbeat, energetic and dynamic, and they aim at ensuring fun for all audiences.

Jordan Nelson ('01), former SAC Spotlight co-chair in charge of the booking details for this show, stated, "All of their music is really easy to get into. It's music you can dance to, and it's just fun." Nelson also emphasized the band's ability to get the audience into their performances and their overall personable quality.

'Dazy head mazy' will bring with them a variety of original music that can be heard on two full length CDs. They're All Wearing Pearls is the band's first full length album and has sold over 10,000 units. The band's second LP, Shift, was released in November of 2000.

In 2000, 'dazy head mazy' received the award for "Best New Act" in the Minneapolis area by the Independent Music Atlas. They have also been nominated for several other awards, including "Best Pop Band" in 2000 by the Minnesota Music Association.

'Dazy head mazy' recently completed a Midwest MTV "Choose or Lose Tour" with Capitol Records' recording artists 'The Push Stars.' They have also shared the stage with national performers such as 'Semisonic' and the 'Jayhawks.'

'Dazy head mazy' has also performed with Luther-based band 'Six Mile Grove.' The two bands have played numerous shows together. 'Grove' member Barry Nelson ('01) said in regards to 'dhm,' "They're a fun, high-energy band, and their new CD sounds great. Performing with them is always a great time."

For an entertaining and interactive show, 'dazy head mazy' brings it all to their audiences.

Cake Magazine of Minneapolis sums up the band's music as having "a purpose beyond the sure pleasure of playing it and having fun with the audience" as their main goal. The concert is sponsored by SAC Spotlight.
