Proxyconn's Acceleration Package Makes Independent ISPs More Competitive Than Ever Before
IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 2004-- Proxyconn announced today the new version of its leading dial-up accelerator to include spyware protection and parental controls. Already included are banner ads and popup blocking as well as privacy protection, making the newest release the most complete acceleration package available to both dial-up and broadband users.
Spyware programs are not only intrusive but also can slow down Internet connection speeds. The Proxyconn Accelerator automatically blocks any spyware attempt to operate on the local machine including attempts to connect to the Internet. Proxyconn's client software package, with all core features, remains at 1 megabyte. This means that ISPs can offer premium services to consumers without requiring large software downloads or installations. Further, the ISP may provide features "a la carte", implementing multiple service tiers at variable prices. This enables improved customer retention and profit from premium services.
Included is an e-commerce option for ISPs to offer end users additional products and services. Until recently, this ability was only in the domain of the largest ISPs, such as AOL (TWX), MSN (MSFT), NetZero (UNTD) and Earthlink (ELNK). Like the dial-up user acceleration, the broadband option is also the most complete package to address spyware, ad blocking, privacy protection and parental controls in a single download.
