Warp Pipe OS X (Alpha) Released
Laptop Battery At around 1 AM EST on Friday morning, The Warp Pipe Project released Warp Pipe OS X (Alpha) to be available for public download.
The application, compatible with last week's release of the Windows 0.3 beta, is the first to include Mac OS support. However, there were some issues indicated on the WPP website regarding several tweaks:
"When connecting to another person, you must designate both ip and port. For example, if you want to connect to the IP 123.45.67.8, you must type in 123.45.67.8:4000. Also, when closing the program, the daemon (anothercastle) may hang. If this happens, kill the process and then start the program over. Also, any preferences you set will not be saved when you close the program. All these issues will be fixed in the next version."
Although this small issue should be a recognizable one in order for the entire process to work, the OS X interface remains as simple as the Windows 0.3 beta.
Chad Paulson, Founder and Product Manager of the Warp Pipe Project had this to say regarding future releases:
"Our next release will provide greatly enhanced stability on both the Windows and Macintosh platforms. It will also support online play of 1080: Avalanche, the last LAN-enabled GameCube game to hit store shelves."
It will only be a matter of time before the entire GameCube community will start recognizing the break-through work that Chad and his team at the Warp Pipe Project have been involved in.
GCA will have the first updates in the coming weeks regarding the future releases of WPP applications.
Still having trouble finding other players when using the Warp Pipe Project client The newly released Warp Zone allows you to see all of the online players, players you've specifically added to your buddy list, and even filters them individually by game. Although this simple buddy list system has a simple interface and lacks in user features, minded GameCube fans until the official release of Warp Pipe 0.4 is up.
