Vineland To Let Residents Decide New Power Plants Fate

Laptop Battery City Council on Tuesday approved a referendum question that would allow residents to decide whether the city should invest in a gas-fired combined cycle power plant.

Kudos to the Bordentown Township Committee, for putting the public health of the residents first. Late Monday night, the committee decided not to allow a new polluting power plant in their community. The enormous public outcry against Conectivs proposed new power plant on the Delaware River is one more example of New Jersey residents saying, "Enough is enough. New Jersey already suffers from some of the worst air pollution in the country, triggering thousands of asthma attacks, chronic bronchitis, even premature death.

Thinkpad The resolution was adopted minutes after Vineland Municipal Electric Utility Director Paul Yatcko made a presentation about the proposal.

According to the indictment, Jones would steal various IBM and Penguin computer servers from Verisign's warehouse in Virginia and sell them to Johnson. Johnson would then sell the servers to several individuals, who would sometimes place them for sale on eBay. As a result of this scheme, the indictment alleges that Jones and Johnson caused Verisign to lose more than $120, 000 worth of computer equipment. In the indictment, Jones and Johnson are charged in three counts with causing the interstate transportation of stolen property, namely IBM 330 and 335 servers, in violation of 18 U.S.C.

Microsoft Last week, Council President Ruben Bermudez had voiced concerns about the referendum and requested Yatcko's presence at Tuesday night's meeting.

What is a Network Interface Card (NIC) The most important PC device is the network interface card (NIC). Each computer on the network, including the servers, is required to have one installed. It is the NIC that provides connectivity between the PC and the network's physical medium, optic cable. Most of the new motherboards available today for PCs and servers have the network interface card integrated with the motherboard. Older computers and some newer computers do not provide onboard network interfaces which will equire a NIC to be added.

Gateway Officials said the proposal comes from a 10-year electric supply strategy study by a consulting firm last year. The proposed plant would be far more efficient and environmentally friendly than the existing machinery, officials said. The current plant uses coal or oil in a boiler to generate steam to turn the turbine and the generator. The new plant would burn natural gas in a jet engine, which would turn the generator to make power.

Laptop Parts The plant also would take in exhaust from the generator and put it into a waste-heat boiler to make steam for running the turbine and the generator. The estimated cost for the plant is between $55 million to $60 million, and it will produce about 100 megawatts of electricity.

Software Yatcko said the money would come from the Municipal Electric Utility's capital budget and bond funding.

Hard Drives If the referendum passes on Nov. 4, officials said they would start work on purchasing the new machinery and retiring three existing units.

Electronics "The first unit wouldn't go up in anything less than two years," Yatcko said.

Canon Yatcko said the new plant would protect customers from "wild swings" in the energy wholesale market.
