I agree with J828 in that AMD always seems to be a step behind. But I think Desta is right, AMD is a very strong contender. With the new Phenom chips, they are back on top. As a computer consultant working in the industry for the past 10 years, I have observed AMD's characteristics in terms of their product releases. They have always waited until Intel led the market towards new technology before stepping forward with their offerings. But with the new x64 architecture, I have to say AMD is the leader. a first in the battle between AMD and Intel.

Laptop Computer Microsoft and AMD provide a solid technical foundation that supports the entertainment community, helping media professionals innovate and achieve their creative goals, said Michael Franzi, Chief Marketing Officer at THX. Were thrilled that AMD is participating in the Lab because of their product contributions in both the professional production and consumer playback markets. But more importantly, AMD understands what customers want and they have been able to consistently deliver it to the digital media market.
