Abbey Selects Saba to Drive Strategic Corporate Performance Initiative

U.K. Financial Services Leader Extends Saba Investment with Saba Enterprise Performance to Help Align Corporate and Individual Objectives

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 2004-- Saba (Nasdaq:SABA), the leading provider of human capital development and management (HCDM) solutions, today announced that Abbey, the sixth largest bank by assets in the U.K. and 30th largest in the world, has selected Saba Enterprise Performance(TM), a fully-integrated performance management solution that allows large organizations to align, measure, develop and improve the performance of their people. Saba Enterprise Performance will enable Abbey management to improve its ability to align the goals and objectives of the organization with those of individuals throughout the enterprise, while enabling continuous visibility into ongoing progress and improvement.
Abbey's selection of Saba Enterprise Performance complements the existing Saba Enterprise Learning solution that was deployed throughout the organization in 2003. Saba Enterprise Performance is part of Saba 5(TM), the industry's first fully-integrated, J2EE-compliant learning and performance solution, and is a key component of Abbey's strategic corporate performance initiative.

"Saba Enterprise Performance is critical to our business and gives us the information we need to effectively manage organizational performance by offering significant flexibility in establishing goals, tracking employee performance and delivering performance assessments," said Chris Wragg, the Abbey PD project leader. "Abbey needed to identify a solution that would meet the demands of our corporate performance initiative while reducing costs. The Saba solution enables us to leverage our existing learning investment, dramatically simplify the network architecture and deliver considerable cost savings. The Saba 5 suite of learning and performance solutions delivers capabilities beyond that of any other vendor."

Saba Enterprise Performance will also help automate Abbey's employee appraisal process, delivering significant savings and improving consistency. The solution is also expected to help Abbey to ensure that goals and objectives are cascaded through the organization to all relevant groups and individuals and provide real-time visibility into the performance of the organization against those objectives. Abbey management will be able to continuously monitor progress against and reinforce those key objectives.

"Leading financial services organizations like Abbey understand the relationship between enterprise learning and organizational performance," said Bobby Yazdani, Saba's Chairman and CEO. "Saba Enterprise Performance will enable Abbey to improve the performance of its employees, accelerate productivity and reinforce organizational alignment, while also producing considerable cost savings to the company. The most successful organizations are focused on building management systems to improve the performance of their people. Saba is pleased to support these strategic learning and performance initiatives with a single fully-integrated solution."
