ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2004-- Verso Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSO), an integrated communications solutions company, today announced the completion of a development contract with the Panasonic Communications Company, Ltd. (Fukuoka, Japan) under which Verso's EXTender PBX gateways, and EXTender 4000 and 6000 remote client devices, have been customized to deliver voice over IP (VoIP) functionality to Panasonic's line of KT-TDM PBXs for the European market. Verso also announced that these products will be marketed under the Verso brand name by two separate Panasonic marketing companies, one based in the United Kingdom, the other in Germany, and sold by fifteen Panasonic sales and distribution companies to a large network of Panasonic dealers throughout Europe.

VoIP has been called a few different things in its colourful past such as internet telephony, peer, P2P, IP telephony, broadband telephony, voice over broadband and many, many other names. At Skype we much prefer using the simpler term free calls over the internet than the geeky VoIP.
