Gateway On the printer side of HPs business, Cannon (NYSE: CAJ) shares were off 40 cents at $52.01.
Laptop Parts The lack of panic-selling in these competitors of Hewlett-Packard echoes analysts sentiments that following Fiorina's exit the company will most likely not be broken up.
Software Many believe that Fiorina's leaving was due to her lack of operational capabilities in the board's eyes. Though AXcess News believes otherwise, having reported on HPs merger with Compaq and calling its approval three months before the $19 billion deal closed.
Hard Drives At the time of that merger Fiorina was at odds with Walter Hewlett over the Compaq deal. Hewlett attempted to rally institutions behind him, objecting to the merger but without success. After his losing battle and resignation from the board, 17,000 employees were laid off.
Electronics Chief Financial Officer Robert Wayman was named interim CEO while Patricia Dunn was named non-executive chairwoman. On Monday, venture capitalist Thomas Perkins was renamed to the board. Perkins replaced retiring director Sanford Litvack. Perkins had been an HP board member from 2002 to 2004.
