Thinkpad (AXcess News) Reno - Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD) captured 52% of U.S. retail desktop sales in the month of September after a lack-luster first six months, bouyed by a rise in back-to-school sales of computers, beating out rival chipmaker, Intel (Nasdaq: INTC), that only reached a 46% share, according to technology research firm Current Analysis.
