Laptop Battery Saving farmland in seven townships was on the minds of the Burlington County freeholders yesterday when they approved an application to the state for $6 million in land preservation money. They also approved North Hanover's application to the state for a $1.5 million grant to preserve 34 farms in that township.
According to the indictment, Jones would steal various IBM and Penguin computer servers from Verisign's warehouse in Virginia and sell them to Johnson. Johnson would then sell the servers to several individuals, who would sometimes place them for sale on eBay. As a result of this scheme, the indictment alleges that Jones and Johnson caused Verisign to lose more than $120, 000 worth of computer equipment. In the indictment, Jones and Johnson are charged in three counts with causing the interstate transportation of stolen property, namely IBM 330 and 335 servers, in violation of 18 U.S.C.

Of the 11 farms preserved in Burlington County, the Johnson farm in Medford is the largest. The county has already paid for the land; the state voted Tuesday to reimburse the county for its expense. Eric Johnson explained how it worked. For the first 18 years, his family will receive about $120, 000 as interest payments on the land. After that, the Johnsons will get a balloon payment for the rest of the cost of the $2 million farm.
Laptop Computers The farms are zoned as farms, but that does not preserve them from development if the zoning changes in the future, Haines explained.

Desktop Computer Haines said his cranberry farm will not be among those preserved with the funding. He will take responsibility for that preservation, he said after the meeting.
Notebooks The county will be applying for three Planning Incentive Grants, or PIGs. The PIG Program, part of the trust act, allows counties and towns to target eligible parcels for preservation.
Lenovo The county's three targeted areas are the Rancocas, Route 206 South and berry production areas.
Hard Drive The Rancocas area is located in Pemberton and Southampton townships. The targeted area is 9,500 acres close to the headwaters of the Rancocas Creek. The land is next to an existing PIG area, the Pinelands Edge Project on the eastern side of Route 206 in Southampton, and goes north to Pemberton. Targeted for preservation here are field and berry crops.
Travelstar The Route 206 South area is located in Medford, Shamong and Tabernacle townships. It includes 10,500 acres from the Medford/Medford Lakes area to the Wharton Forest. Preserved will be field, berry, fruit and vegetable crops, sod and nursery farms and pastures.
Gateway The berry production area is located in Pemberton, Tabernacle, Washington and Woodland townships and includes about 1,000 acres. Protected will be the headwaters of the Batsto and Wading rivers and cranberry and blueberry farms.
Laptop Parts Each area will receive about $2 million, with the state supplying 70 to 75 percent of the funding and the county using preservation trust money to pay for the rest, Haines said.
Software "One of the Legislature's goals has been to address the inequities created with the severe downsizing of Pinelands farms as a result of the Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan," Haines said.
Hard Drives "Hopefully Burlington County will be able to advance that goal while, at the same time, do our part to maintain and encourage the future of agriculture."
Electronics North Hanover will apply for $1.5 million in the same funding to preserve 34 small, targeted farms in that township. The county agreed to split the local funding portion, 34 percent, with the township.
Canon Should all farms apply and be accepted into the township's program, the total estimated preservation cost would come to about $6.5 million. Other SADC applications in the future will be filed to cover those costs, officials said.
