Top Executives and Technology Innovators to Lead Opening Discussions at Technology Review's 2004 Emerging Technologies Conference

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 21, 2004-- Technology Review, MIT's Magazine of Innovation, today announced the latest additions to the speaker roster for its 2004 Emerging Technologies Conference at MIT (http://www.tretc.com). The event, scheduled for September 29-30, 2004 at Kresge Auditorium on MIT's campus in Cambridge, MA, will feature confirmed keynote speakers Vinod Khosla, founding CEO of Sun Microsystems and General Partner at Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers; Ray Kurzweil, renowned inventor, author and founder of Kurzweil Technologies; and Rick Wagoner, chairman of General Motors.
The newest sessions, which will focus on different perspectives on creating business opportunity from research and innovation, will include top executives from DuPont, IBM and Millenium Pharmaceuticals, as well as leaders from Analog Devices, Inc., SRI International, Sycamore Networks, Inc. and TIAX LLC.
The first session, "From Lab to Market: Where Technology is Headed - The Research Director's Point of View," highlights how computing, biotechnology and chemicals and materials are converging to create new technologies and business opportunities, and examines what they mean for three powerful corporations in different but intersecting fields. Moderated by Rebecca Henderson, Eastman Kodak LFM Professor of Management, MIT's Sloan School of Management, speakers include:

The second panel, "The Pipeline Problem," examines novel programs and organizations that speed the transition from lab to market and overcome clogs in the innovation pipeline that hinder development and rapid transfer of technology to the commercial arena.
