Viewtiful Joe 2

Viewtiful Joe 2

Laptop Battery Capcoms Viewtiful Joe, for many, was love at first site. Its comic book-esque, cel-shaded art style, lovable cast of characters and fulfilling gameplay was simply too good to pass up. Of course, like with any great achievement, fans cried for a sequel.

And Capcom heard their cries.

Capcom heard fans cries, indeed. Not even a year after Viewtiful Joes stunning arrival on the GameCube, the publisher has newly founded developer Clover Studios hard at work on Viewtiful Joe 2. Also, in an effort to reach more gamers, Capcom will be releasing Viewtiful Joe 2 not only on GameCube, but on Sonys PlayStation 2 as well. And on a side note, Viewtiful Joe will be making its way to the PlayStation 2 later this year. For gamers, at least, life continues to be viewtiful.

  • Joe returns in his viewtiful sequel, Viewtiful Joe 2.
  • Play as both Joe and his girlfriend, Silvia, through new episodes in the Viewtiful universe
  • Returning VFX powers, including slow, speed up and mach, will impress like they did with Viewtiful Joe, as will a new a new VFX called replay

  • Life continues to be viewtiful

Gameplay
Like any self-respecting sequel, Viewtiful Joe 2 plans to incorporate enough of the old with plenty of new in an attempt to 1-up its predecessor. Viewtiful Joe 2 is appropriately named, too. The title will follow closely after the events in its predecessor, Viewtiful Joe. According to the titles creator, it will start out in space where the last game ended. Story details remain nearly non-existent, so there are no plot details to dazzle you with, but we do know that things are still bad in Movie Land, as a group known as Jadow continue to invade it. The only answer to the madness is our hero, Joe, and his girlfriend Silvia.

Assuming youve never played Viewtiful Joe, then its style is unlike anything youve ever seen before. This is in fact partly what made it such a success last year when it released. In essence, Viewtiful Joe 2 is more of what fans loved in the original, along with enough new stuff to call it a sequel. The mechanics will remain largely unchanged. It is a 2D/3D beat-em-up that takes place from a side scrolling perspective. Like the original Mario Bros., indeed, you control Joe trying to make it from the beginning of the stage to the end, with slews of obstacles trying to stop you. However, replace the nostalgic platforming and famed goombas with VFX-inspired puzzles and comic book-esque baddies, and youve got what is called Viewtiful Joe or Viewtiful Joe 2, rather.

Kicking butt and taking names.

Joe has at his disposal some familiar moves, known simply as VFX moves. Returning from Viewtiful Joe are Slow, Mach Speed and Zoom In. Slow allows Joe to slow down time. Next, Mach Speed allows the opposite, letting him speed up time and dish out a hot amount of damage. And, finally, there is Zoom In, which Joe can use to zoom in on enemies and deal even more damage. However, there is more. Clover Studios has come up with a fresh, new VFX for Joe and his girl, Silvia, to take advantage of, Replay. Replay lets you replay your actions. For example, if Joe punches an enemy, you can replay the scene and deal twice the amount of damage to the enemy. Likewise, replaying Joe eating a hamburger for health will recover twice the amount of health as normal. Clever.

Also new in Viewtiful Joe 2 is the ability to play as Joes girlfriend, Silvia. Gamers whom played Viewtiful Joe will remember her cheerleader attitude and lovable personality no doubt the reason why Joe is with her. However, as a playable character, Silvia is just as umm viewtiful as Joe. Equipped with her two pompoms, she can deal a wealth of damage to enemies at close range, while her special gun can take care of any far range enemies Joe cant. As they say, Whatever boys can do, girls can do better. yeah.

And to top it all off, perhaps the cherry on top, Viewtiful Joe 2 will feature a brand new cooperative mode, allowing two to play through the game as both Joe and Silvia.

These are just a few things to add to the list of new stuff appearing in this sure-to-be-stunning sequel. A whole new set of stages has been created for the title, including an atmospheric ruin, ancient Japan, snowy mountain, outer space and a thriving jungle. While Viewtiful Joes stages and chapters were fresh and memorable, its sequels seem to be even more so. And whats more, you can expect even more stages in Viewtiful Joe 2 that the ones already revealed, as well as a whole new cast of even more unforgettable bosses.

Silvia can do it all... really.

Graphics & Sound
If ever there was a title that fit its game the best, it is Viewtiful Joe. It sported a unique, comic book-centric, cel-shaded style unlike anything on the market, topped off with a 2D/3D engine that allows Joe to run around corners in a 2D world. And like Viewtiful Joe, Viewtiful Joe 2 boasts downright familiar graphical style. Not to disappoint, but it will actually feature few improvements, as the engine will remain mostly unchanged. Expect it to look slightly cleaner, with some new artistic improvements, as well as feature a smooth framerate. Lots of colors, too expect that.

Sound, too, will remain familiar. Sound effects from Joe, Silvia, enemies, backgrounds, music and full force voice acting will bring the game to life. Expect a lot of humorous dialogue, too, in the vein of Viewtiful Joe.

Outlook
Add one more title to your 2004 wish list, because Viewtiful Joe 2 is likely to be one more title to help make 2004 one of the best years in gaming. Clover Studios and Capcom are hard at work making sure thats the case when the title ships just in time for fall of 2004. With the returning VFX moves, Slow, Mach Speed, and Zoom In, in addition to a new move, Replay, plus a list of new stages, a cooperative mode to boot, 40 all-new enemies, the ability to play as Silvia and much more, the Viewtiful Joe foundation laid last year has inspired, perhaps, what will be a very viewtiful sequel. So stay tuned for more on Viewtiful Joe 2 next month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo and beyond.

According to the indictment, Jones would steal various IBM and Penguin computer servers from Verisign's warehouse in Virginia and sell them to Johnson. Johnson would then sell the servers to several individuals, who would sometimes place them for sale on eBay. As a result of this scheme, the indictment alleges that Jones and Johnson caused Verisign to lose more than $120, 000 worth of computer equipment. In the indictment, Jones and Johnson are charged in three counts with causing the interstate transportation of stolen property, namely IBM 330 and 335 servers, in violation of 18 U.S.C.
