Thursday that five Los Angeles-based companies agreed to pay more
than $500,000 to settle claims they had unlicensed copies of
software programs installed on office computers.
"Computer industry analysts estimate that some 60 percent of all corporate data exists only on desktop and laptop computers, " said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. piracy in the workplace is still pervasive. It is BSA's hope that

personal computers, PlayStation and PlayStation 2 game consoles and
Xbox video game systems, was among the five companies that settled,
paying $153,500 after an audit revealed that it had unlicensed
Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, FileMaker, Macromedia, Microsoft and
Symantec software programs on its computers. It wasthe highest
amount recovered by BSA of the five companies that settled.
Lenovo NovaLogic's president Lee Milligan said, "As a software
