Last year's event drew some 350,000 people, including thousands in powerboats, sailboats and kayaks who watched from the optimum spot, in the bay itself. The San Francisco Chronicle's Fourth of July Waterfront Festival extends from Aquatic Park to Pier 39 on Fisherman's Wharf (fireworks will be lofted from two sites), and the festivities start around noon with bands (six separate stages this year) and entertainment all over the famed tourist area. The show can be seen from anywhere along the wharf, and the Coast Guard will be monitoring boat activity/safety zones in the bay. A big time in the City by the Bay.
