(OTCBB: PFNH) announced its first order for high-speed chips from DBL Technology Co., confirming a recent report by JupiterResearch that said household penetration of broadband VoIP telephony will escalate to 17% of the market by 2009, up from only 1% in 2004.According to JupiterResearch, VoIP telephony services will grow to about 400,000 U.S. households by the end of 2004 and reach more than 12 million households by 2009. That represents a 10% household penetration in the US.The nanotechnology company, Perfisans Holdings, developed a high-speed chip with remarkable capabilities, which AXcess News began covering in July (See, "ISP War, The Need for Speed").

Laptop Computer In story released Tuesday by Commweb.com, JupiterResearch senior analyst Joe Laszlo was quoted as saying, "Just like we saw with DSL five years ago, VoIP startups will be extremely important in jump-starting the market and will motivate established carriers to develop their own VoIP services."
A hardware IP phone, also referred to as a 'hard phone', is a self contained IP telephone. It looks just like a conventional phone, but instead of a conventional phone jack, it has an Ethernet port through which it communicates directly with a VoIP server, VoIP gateway or another VoIP phone. Since a broadband hard phone communicates directly with a VoIP server, VoIP gateway or another VoIP phone it does not require any personal computer nor any software running on a personal computer to make or receive VoIP phone calls. It can be used independently, all that is required is an internet connection. While PC based software solutions are cheaper, a hard phone is the best solution for IP telephony.
Desktop Computer Perfisan's first customer is a large one and if Laszlo is right, the order from DBL won't be the last. DBL Technology Co. Ltd., based in of Shenzhen, China, is a significant player in the Taiwanese and Chinese communication markets, and is among select companies approved by the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry. DBL plans to integrate Perfisans' proprietary ENA1001 gigabit network chip into several of its new product designs.
Notebooks While Perfisans is coming out of development stage with its semiconductor products, other stocks in that sector haven't been as positive. Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD) closed down 25 cents at $13.70. AMD said on Thursday it expected stronger-than-normal seasonal demand in the fourth quarter. Its shares were overshadowed Tuesday by Intel (NASDAQ: INTC), which closed down 33 cents at $20.28. Intel said its third quarter profits rose 15% but that it expects fourth quarter results to be lower than the street anticipated. While Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN) closed down 59 cents at $21.30. According to a story by the Associated Press, Royal Philips Electronics NV issued a gloomy fourth-quarter outlook for its semiconductor division and Amkor Technology Inc. said it is being investigated by regulators. Philips (NYSE: PHG) closed down 78 cents at $22.79 and Amkor (NASDAQ: AMKR) closed down 5 cents at $4.21.
Lenovo Perfisans (OTCBB: PFNH) closed up Tuesday 3 cents, or 2.13%, on lower than average volume of only 3,000 shares to end the session at $1.44. The 90-day average daily trading volume was reported to be 29,816 shares.Source: Source Press
