Web Content
Laptop Battery SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2004-- Snapbridge
Software(R), a leading provider of XML developer tools and
cross-media publishing solutions, today unveiled FDX(R) Cross Media
Server(TM), a multi-platform application family that improves
workflow between writers, editors and production groups while
reducing the cost and complexity of archiving and repurposing
newspaper and magazine content. FDX Cross Media Server integrates
disparate data sources and different content formats to simplify
and accelerate information assembly and delivery across multiple
channels, including print, broadcast, web and wireless.
FDX Cross Media Server employs patent-pending Federated Data
eXchange (FDX) technology, which leverages open XML standards and
Java technology to eliminate difficult, time-consuming and
expensive software development. FDX Cross Media Server uses a
browser-based interface and allows typical desktop applications to
seamlessly link different types of content -- text, images, PDF,
and native support for all XML formats including Adobe's XMP
standard, DocBook and NITF. With support for multiple computing
platforms, including Windows, Linux and OSX, the highly scalable
FDX Cross Media Server offers
greater interoperability and
content indexing, giving organizations the flexibility to create
content once and then publish it in many formats with higher
quality and lower cost.
"Computer industry analysts estimate that some 60 percent of all corporate data exists only on desktop and laptop computers, " said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "Incorporating Acronis True Image with New Mexico Software backup server is the ideal solution to capture that corporate data and ensure that it is not lost. While traditional server backups are effective for protecting server data, every company should have a combination of server and workstation backup plans."
Thinkpad According to Benjamin Chen, Snapbridge chairman and CTO, FDX
Cross Media Server capitalizes on the benefits of XML and data
federation technology to deliver unprecedented performance
improvements. "Our XML-centric, publishing solutions orchestrate
any number of publishing workflows in a fraction of the time and
cost traditionally spent on custom-coded solutions," he said. "FDX
Cross Media Server, in addition to our XML and XSLT development
tools, can automate nearly all editing and publishing processes so
projects that once took months or years now can be completed in
days."
Product Resources CyberLink eHRD Total Solutions Articles & Guides Product Demos User's Guide Testimonials Publish Your Presentation on the Web Now you can create and publish your multimedia presentation using StreamAuthor, media presentation. You can publish your rich media presentation as either HTML document or as executable file formats (EXE) on the Internet, Intranet, shared network drive, local computer, or a corporate content management server. In this tutorial, we will demonstrate how you can upload your already created presentation file onto the web, such as web server, media web server, or CyberLink Content Management Server (through the use of CyberLink TCMS).
Microsoft FDX Search and Archive Engine, the first available product in
the family, provides a central repository for creating and
archiving editorial content. The browser-based system lets
unlimited users from any publishing group easily access and work
with content and images from otherwise incompatible systems,
applications and formats used to publish various newspapers and
magazines. By presenting a real-time, unified view of an
organization's information assets, FDX Search and Archive Engine
optimizes content repurposing and syndication. The repository
supports WebDAV, a standard for web-based collaboration, and
full-text Boolean searches with advanced filtering. The system also
supports news industry text formats and popular editing and
production tools, such as Adobe In-Design and In-Copy.
And then, of course, we have the Standalone Server product, which is called Acronis True Image Server for Windows or Linux and that will manage a single standalone server. What type of computers can we back up, because in a medium to a large sized, even some small sized businesses, who knows what kind of computers they have They may have laptops, they may have desktops, they may just have anything and everything
Laptop Computers For Greenspun Media Group, one of the largest magazine and
newspaper publishers in Nevada, FDX Cross Media Server provides a
solid foundation upon which to increase editorial collaboration
while slashing production
costs. As the publishers of the
Las Vegas Sun newspaper, VEGAS magazine, Las Vegas Weekly and a
host of other publishing properties including VEGAS.com, the
city's most popular Internet site, Greenspun was seeking a
replacement for an aging and unreliable archival system. Greg
Gamsky, CIO at VEGAS.com, found that FDX Cross Media Server's
support of the XML standard quickly and easily enabled the
company to federate and archive all of Greenspun's digital
assets so they could be used by any publication.
CyberLink Media Server opens access to video, photo, and music folders on a PC, while CyberLink SoftDMA detects media servers connected to the home network and acts as a player of shared media files. This allows users to install Media Server on one PC containing all their music, photo, and video files, and then access them from another computer using SoftDMA.
Laptop Computer "We didn't think it was possible to deploy a comprehensive,
standards-based solution for repurposing our content without a
substantial
enterprise information
integration effort," said Gamsky. "With Snapbridge's native XML
support and FDX technology, we were able to deploy a central
content archive in less than three months." Snapbridge has also
helped the publisher automate the publishing of magazine
websites. "We've boosted our productivity on the web publishing
side substantially," he added. "In addition to reducing
production costs by more than 30 percent, we've set the stage
for further improvements once our editorial workflow integration
with Adobe is completed."

Similar to previous Windows Server licensing models, one server license is required for each copy of the server software installed. In addition, a Windows Server 2003 Client Access License (CAL) is required for each user or device (or combination of both) that accesses or uses the server software.
Desktop Computer Content publishers, news organizations and syndicators can take
advantage of XML-based solutions to create multiple deliverables
from one unmodified source document. With XML, changes can be made
to a single document instead of requiring synchronization across
many source documents. According to David M. Cole, principal of The
Cole Group, a San Francisco-based independent publishing industry
analysis firm, XML is a practical, cost-effective and
open-standards technology that helps publishers take advantage of
new business opportunities with less effort and expense. "While
we're not sure what the next 'killer app' in publishing might be,"
explained Cole. " We do know that storing data in XML makes it easy
and extremely cost effective to go back in time, reproduce content
and then deliver it any shape or form wherever you want it to go --
from a magazine, website or news-feed to a PDA, cell-phone or
broadcast station."
Notebooks All of Snapbridge's products, including a suite of downloadable
developers' tools, are based on the XML standard for structuring
and expressing information. FDX Search and Archive Engine, the
first available product in the FDX Cross Media Server family also
is available as a downloadable product in two editions. A Standard
edition is priced at $499 per CPU and comes bundled with a
pre-installed database and support for MySQL. The Enterprise
edition is available for $4,999 per CPU and offers a wide range of
database support, including Microsoft SQL and Oracle in addition to
MySQL. The enterprise edition also supports J2EE application
servers, LDAP security as well as load balancing and fail-over
capabilities.
Lenovo The availability of Web Publishing and Editorial Workflow
engines in the third quarter will give publishers additional
capabilities to publish from PDF to plate, as well as to HTML or
any other format.
