THE PRESIDENTIAL CHALLENGE OF CENTRAL AMERICA CONSERVATION SERIES GUATEMALA 2005

Staff Anglers and crews are anxiously awaiting the start of the 2005 Presidential Challenge of Central America next weekend. Capt. Ron Hamlin who runs the charter boat, CAPT. HOOK, out of Marina Pez Vela, Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, reports that his clients released 43 for 69 sails the other day. They released a whopping total of 134 in 4 days of sailfishing!
We have 36 anglers signed up to fish the final event of the PCCA beginning on Friday, November 18th with a gala Welcome Party hosted by INGUAT at Puerto Quetzal. Fishing begins Saturday, November 19th. The three days of fishing will determine the Lowrance Grand Champion Team and the Eagle Claw Grand Champion Angler for the year. The Lonesome Gull team with anglers Lisa Armstrong, Clint Everett and William Blakemore hold a slim lead in the Lowrance Grand Championship. Jim Vaughn is on top of the pack for the Eagle Claw Grand Championship. If the bite is on next weekend, anything can happen! The winning team will receive an invitation to attend the 2006 Rolex/IGFA Offshore Championship in Cabo San Lucas. The top angler will be invited to fish in the World Billfish Series World Championship Tournament scheduled for early December at Los Suenos. Stay tuned to our web page for daily updates.
CONSERVATION: Proceeds from this event will be used to fund The Adopt-A-Billfish Program / Phase Two. We will also continue to assist Capt. Ron Hamlin and Club Nautico de Guatemala with the used clothing drive for underprivileged children in the Puerto Quetzal area.
