Read your camera manual before you travel and pack it along just for reference: Be prepared. As easy as it is to let your camera manual become a dust collector, resist the urge. Read up on your camera's controls, features and operating instructions before you travel. If you're familiar with how your camera works BEFORE you hit the airport, you'll spend less time frantically flipping pages and more time snapping shots at that magic moment when the sun hits the horizon. There's not a camera store under every palapa in the islands, so be sure to pack extra batteries, especially if your gear uses a proprietary power source.
