Iran's President-elect sues official news agency chief

Tehran, Iran, Jul. 21 - The head of Iran's state-run news agency was summoned to court for questioning after ultra-conservative President-elect Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's campaign team filed a complaint against the agency for biased reporting.
Ahmadinejad's presidential campaign team had charged that during the controversial second round of the elections in June, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) had supported the President-elect's rival, former President Ayatollah Ali-Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
Ahmadinejad's win was marred with controversy with a number of rival candidates claiming that the former Revolutionary Guards senior commander had gained victory through fraud.
Abdollah Nasseri, IRNA's Managing Director was questioned by prosecutor Vali Khani. The prosecutor arraigned Nasseri after making inquiries.
Mostafa Darban, the bureau chief of Iran's official news agency, was held for more than two weeks by Baghdad police last month.
