Laptop Battery The Sierra Club has launched a new series of ads charging the Bush administration with failing to make corporations clean up abandoned toxic waste sites.

The tax levied on the manufacturers of toxic chemicals expired in 1995 and the Superfund, which boasted $3.6 billion in reserve at its peak, ran out of money last year.
According to the indictment, Jones would steal various IBM and Penguin computer servers from Verisign's warehouse in Virginia and sell them to Johnson. Johnson would then sell the servers to several individuals, who would sometimes place them for sale on eBay. As a result of this scheme, the indictment alleges that Jones and Johnson caused Verisign to lose more than $120, 000 worth of computer equipment. In the indictment, Jones and Johnson are charged in three counts with causing the interstate transportation of stolen property, namely IBM 330 and 335 servers, in violation of 18 U.S.C.
Microsoft Sierra Club spokeswoman Annie Strickler said that forces ordinary taxpayers -- not polluters -- to foot the bill for cleaning up some of the worst toxic waste sites. There are nearly 1,300 Superfund National Priority sites in the United States.
"Third and fourth generation family farmers can't enjoy their backyards, sometimes can't even leave their houses, due to the toxic gases coming from the manure in these industrial feedlots. Knowing that these animal factories are a major source of toxic pollution, why is the Bush administration cutting secret deals cut behind closed doors and letting polluting animal factories off the hook from their responsibility to obey clean air and clean water laws " asked Pat Gallagher, Sierra Club's Director of Environmental Law.

Laptop Computer Television ads began running Monday in Philadelphia, Detroit and Tampa, Fla., and a radio ad debuted Tuesday in Omaha, Neb. The ads highlight several toxic waste cleanup sites: the former Velsicol Chemical Co. plant site in St. Louis, Mich.; the Franklin Slag Pile in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia; the Coronet Industries plant site in Plant City, Fla.; and the lead contamination site in eastern Omaha.
