RE 4 Hits 500,000 Units
Laptop Battery Capcom issued a press release today discussing how well the latest title in its long running Resident Evil series is performing. According to NPD tracking numbers, which only counted sales through April 2005, over 500,000 units of Resident Evil 4 have shipped for the GameCube in North America. Worldwide, the title has sold over a million units.
The Resident Evil series as a whole has sold roughly 26 million units. Resident Evil, RE 0 and RE 4 are also the top three selling M-rated GameCube titles. Resident Evil 4 will also ship later this year for Sony's PlayStation 2, opening the title to a much wider audience.
"With Resident Evil 4 , the series and the entire survival horror genre have been advanced to a whole new level," said Todd Thorson, director of marketing, Capcom Entertainment. "Its been rewarding to see that the incredible response the game has received from fans and critics has been mirrored by a phenomenal retail performance."
According to the indictment, Jones would steal various IBM and Penguin computer servers from Verisign's warehouse in Virginia and sell them to Johnson. Johnson would then sell the servers to several individuals, who would sometimes place them for sale on eBay. As a result of this scheme, the indictment alleges that Jones and Johnson caused Verisign to lose more than $120, 000 worth of computer equipment. In the indictment, Jones and Johnson are charged in three counts with causing the interstate transportation of stolen property, namely IBM 330 and 335 servers, in violation of 18 U.S.C.
