Berbee adds features to VoIP broadcast system
Laptop Battery By WTN News • 09/08/04 FITCHBURG, Wis. — Berbee Information Networks Corp. has released a new version of their broadcasting software, which allows voice and text messages to be sent over an intranet to computers or Cisco Internet protocol phones.
The new version, InformaCast 3.1, adds features such as the ability to broadcast live, record from non-IP phones, and add predefined text messages to voice announcements. It is also compatible with CallManager, Berbee said.
It also allows messages to be sent to network speakers, which are attached to the data network and can work where phones or full-fledged computer systems would be impractical.
Voice over Internet protocol, also known as VoIP or Internet telephony, has grown in popularity because it allows organizations to use their data networks for voice, consolidating hardware requirements and often saving money on internal phone systems.
For example, InformaCast can also send broadcasts through a Web interface. The software was originally developed for the U.S. government, Berbee said.
