Laptop Computer The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company said net earnings in the
latest quarter included a partial reversal of a deferred tax asset
valuation allowance of about $13 million.
As more and more laptops are sold quarter by quarter and year by year, one thing has become obvious. Computer manufacturers have been phasing out the term "laptop." Why is that The term made a lot of sense years ago, when you could actually put a notebook computer on your lap. Now people are suing left and right because their computers are so hot that is makes it impossible to put on their lap without being burned, or at the very least, begin to perspire. Even I have found as I type on my 17" laptop while it's sitting on a desk, the Intel Core Duo chip and heat from the other components cause my palms to begin sweating (not to mention the nice little sweat spots where my palms rest). Thank goodness for cleaner!
Desktop Computer For the fiscal fourth quarter ending June 2, Palm forecast
revenue of $400 million to $405 million and adjusted earnings per
share of 22 cents to 23 cents. Analysts, on average, have forecast
revenue of $395.7 million and earnings per share before items of 21
cents.
Notebooks Shares of Palm closed up 47 cents, or nearly 2.4 percent, at
$20.14. In realtime ECN trading, Palm's shares continued climbing
to $21.35, skirting its 52-week high of $21.97, having rose $1.68,
or over 8.5 percent.
