Comedy Central's New Broadband Video Channel, Motherload,
Leverages Akamai Media Delivery for Video Streaming
New online service offers more than 950 video clips for some of
Comedy Central's most popular programs

announced today that Comedy Central, the only all-comedy network,
relies on Akamai Media Delivery to support its recently launched
MotherLoad broadband channel initiative.
MotherLoad (www.comedycentral.com/motherload) is a free broadband
video channel designed to offer consumers a new way to access
original video content and popular programming on the Internet.
MotherLoad offers five different content channels with more than
950 video clips and plans to add 50 to 80 new clips per week. The
site is airing three-minute clips from original Comedy Central
shows, including "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report." Akamai
Media Delivery enables the secure delivery and download of these
clips, giving subscribers high-quality, reliable streams every
time. Visitors to the site can customize their programming line-up,
easily add new shows to their playlists and quickly send favorite
clips or shows to friends via email.

CyberLink Media Server opens access to video, photo, and music folders on a PC, while CyberLink SoftDMA detects media servers connected to the home network and acts as a player of shared media files. This allows users to install Media Server on one PC containing all their music, photo, and video files, and then access them from another computer using SoftDMA.
Thinkpad Comedy Central is a longstanding Akamai customer, and because of
its existing relationship was able to roll out this major new
offering without additional infrastructure or excessive costs.
