Intel, Red Hat Launch Global Solution Acceleration Program
Program Provides Customers with Tools and Technical Data to Help Accelerate and Optimize Advanced Linux Solutions
LINUXWORLD, Boston, April 4, 2006 Intel Corporation and Red Hat (NASDAQ: RHAT), the worlds leading provider of open source to the enterprise, today announced the creation of a global program to help customers plan for, accelerate and optimize their deployments of Linux solutions. The program will be the first of its kind for Linux solutions development, initially focused on developing and disseminating tools for virtualization of enterprise computing.

The Red Hat and Intel Solution Acceleration Program will give customers real-time access to the critical information, tools and support they need to build and optimize high-value Linux solutions on Intel-based platforms, said Jon Bork, director of Intels Open Source Program Office. This program will help customers quickly and effectively take advantage of new Intel platforms and technologies as they come to market.
With today's announcement, JBoss will become a division of Red Hat with a common business model of delivering and providing production support of open source software. Customers will now have access to a single, proven global production support organization that can service both Red Hat and JBoss customers, in addition to procuring JBoss offerings through the established global channels of Red Hat. With this acquisition, Red Hat continues to lead the widespread adoption of open source solutions for the enterprise, demonstrating the power of its development model to create innovative, high quality software, effective solutions for customers.

The Red Hat and Intel Solution Acceleration Program operates online and at centers that include hubs in McLean, Va.; Mumbai, India; and Munich, Germany; and 14 satellite locations spanning the globe. The hubs will be equipped with Intel Itanium 2 and Intel Xeon processor-based servers, Intel Pentium 4 processor-based corporate desktops, Intel Centrino mobile technology-based laptops, and Intel-based storage devices, including key pre-production platforms. All of the centers will be located at Red Hat facilities and be utilized by services and solution experts from Intel and Red Hat, as well as customers and other collaborators who participate in solutions deployment.
