Hardware To view files on this CD-ROM, insert the CD into the computer CD-ROM drive. From Start > Run, type in start.html to open the CD-ROM interface.

Dual Xeon The CD interface opens in your computer's Internet browser (see system requirements, above). To start, insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, choose "Run" from the Windows Start Menu, and type in D:\start.html (where D is the letter of your computer's CD-ROM drive). The home page of the CD-ROM interface opens in the Internet browser that your computer has configured to open .html files. All content can be accessed using the CD-ROM interface with the exception of Active Models, OM Explorer, Extend LT and Adobe Reader, which must be installed first. Each of these may be installed directly from the CD's Software screen by simply clicking on the appropriate link on that page and then following the on-screen installation instructions.

Storage Written Tours and Supplements files on this CD-ROM have been provided as print-optimized portable document format (.pdf file format), as opposed to screen-optimized .pdf files, to ensure that the content resolution is of a high quality when the files are printed out. Your computer must have Adobe Reader installed in order to successfully view these files. Mainframe Created by Howard Weiss for Prentice Hall. These models enable students to understand the quantitative methods in Operations Management. Each spreadsheet contains an example from the textbook for which the data may be changed in order to see how the changes affect the answers. Wherever possible, a graph has been provided. Each Active Model spreadsheet contains a RESET button to easily enable restoration of the original data. In addition, each spreadshseet contains a QUESTION button which will lead you through a series of questions on the relationship among the parameters of the problem.

Samsung Note: Excel 97 does not allow for all of the features that Excel 2000 does. If you have Excel 97 there will be two notable issues when using Active Models.

1. Computer Repair When you open the Excel files an error message will appear that states that "Errors
   occurred during load". Ignore this message and click the OK button to continue.

2. Used Computers You will not be able to edit the data sheet while the Question form is open. For this
   reason, for some modules, you may find it easier to display the questions and
   your answers using the display button in the top right of the question form.

4. Digital Cameras Adobe Reader

Desktops Adobe Reader is the free viewing companion for Adobe applications that produce Portable Document Format (PDF) files. Adobe Reader lets you view, navigate and print PDF files. Among these applications are Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard and Professional which are complete solutions for creating, enhancing, reviewing, editing, and sharing information in PDF. • Cognos Extend LT:

Hosting The LT product is a limited version of the Extend family of simulation packages that allow you to build dynamic models and systems. It is designed for students doing coursework with Extend, as a companion to a book, or for people who are evaluating Extend and want more capabilities than the Demo application. The LT version has many capabilities. For example, you can:

• Netfinity Build models, up to a maximum size of 75 blocks.

• Internet Run models of any size (even bigger than 75 blocks).

• Cheap Computer Change values and save simulation results.

• Digital Camera Build and save your own custom blocks.

• Printer Print model worksheets, block dialogs, and so forth.

Xseries However, there are some limitations:

• Maxtor The models you build are limited to a maximum of 75 blocks. You can, however, run pre-built models of any size.

• Data Storage The LT version expires 180 days after its first use.

• Hitachi Printed documentation is not included. The LT version includes documentation in .pdf format; you can also purchase printed manuals.

• Rational The BPR, Manufacturing, and Industry libraries have their block code protected. However, you have access to the code of the rest of the library blocks.

• Websphere There is no upgrade path and technical support is limited to installation questions.
