DC Access Selected as Broadband Provider for Washington's First Public Outdoor Wi-Fi Hotspot
DC Access Enters into the Public Wi-Fi Market
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 28, 2004--DC Access, a leading Washington, DC-based ISP, today announced it was selected as the wireless Internet provider for the Open Park Project. In a separate release today, Open Park (www.openpark.net), a non-profit organization that's focused on bringing free Wi-Fi to the National Mall, launched the first public outdoor Internet hotspot in the nation's capital.
With DC Access providing its high-speed wireless Internet service, the public can now access the Internet for free with a laptop or hand-held device in the areas around the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress and the Capitol Visitors' Center site.

In July 2003, DC Access became the first ISP in Washington to offer wireless Internet directly to residential and small business customers. DC Access uses high-powered antennas to broadcast wireless Internet connections, eliminating the "last mile" connection problems associated with landline services and the need to order a physical connection from a large telecommunications provider. DC Access is also partnering with local property management companies and owners of residential and commercial multi-tenant units to secure strategic rooftop access for its antennas.
