August NPD Top Ten Game Sales
Laptop Battery Another year, another Madden, another day of celebration at the EA Headquarters in Redwood Shores - no doubt. The latest sales numbers courtesy of NPD have been released and Football games dominated the charts, with EA's Madden NFL 2005 leading the way. Below is the Top Ten for all consoles:

As you can see, thanks to the onslaught of sports games, the only GameCube title in the top ten was its own version of Madden. Since that tells us little of how Nintendo fared in August, let's look at the top tens for the GameCube and Game Boy Advance:

Now we see that Namco's Tales of Symphonia managed to hold on to respectable sales in its second month of released as the best selling "non-Madden" game on the GameCube. Hopefully this bodes well for future rumored Tales games from Namco, as well as better sales for Baten Kaitos since Nintendo is putting commercial ads out for that upcoming RPG, as opposed to Symphonia, which received none.
Proprietary game engine delivers improved development efficiency Codemasters named 2007 UK Developer of the Year The Codemasters Software Company Limited ("Codemasters"), winning interactive entertainment software, year history. In the 12 months to June 30, 2007, the group increased sales by 38% to 1.5m ($149m). One driving force in the company’s performance was a 332% increase in dollar sales of video game software in the US retail channel, according to The NPD Group in the same period. NPD charts Codemasters as one of the top five fastest growing video game companies in the US.
