Media Socket Selects InterVideo to Provide MPEG-4 Video Transceiver and editor Server for the New Mobile Video Ring Tones and Video Sharing Services on NTT DoCoMo Network
TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2004--InterVideo(R), Inc. (NASDAQ:IVII) a leading provider of middleware solutions to tier-one consumer electronics and PC manufacturers, announced today that Media Socket Inc. has selected InterVideo's MPEG-4 video transceiver and editor server for the mobile video ring tones and video sharing services to be offered on NTT DoCoMo's i-mode network. Media Socket's strength with mobile multimedia services made Media Socket the natural choice when DoCoMo decided to allow Media Socket to store the video ring tones and mobile-phone accessible video editing functionality on its server system. Media Socket's service will allow subscribers to create their own original video ring tones, using video clips or still images taken with the camera function of the DoCoMo FOMA phones. Users can also add animated effects and music. Media Socket turned to InterVideo, one of the leaders in digital video codecs and video editing solutions for tier-one consumer electronics and PC manufacturers, for an innovative MPEG-4 video server solution for mobile phone customers. This marks a new chapter in InterVideo's expansion in digital video from client-based environments, such as PCs, consumer electronics products and handheld devices, to server based systems. NTT DoCoMo is one of the world's leading mobile communications company, serving more than 48 million customers.
Media Socket deployed digital video services to DoCoMo customers using InterVideo's MPEG-4 digital video server starting today, August 2, 2004.
