Intel The main screen for this CD-ROM enables you to access all the items listed in the Contents section of this Read Me file. To launch the main screen, double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop, then double-click the CD-ROM drive icon. The contents of the CD will appear - double-click on the file "start.exe".

Digital Cameras TestGen is a test generator program that lets you view and edit testbank questions, transfer them to tests, and print tests in a variety of formats. The program also offers many options for organizing and displaying testbanks and tests. A built-in random number and text generator makes it ideal for creating multiple versions of tests that involve math calculations and provides more possible test items than testbank questions. Powerful search and sort functions let you easily locate questions and arrange them in the order you prefer. For more information on the program, refer to the TestGen User's Guide (TG5UserGuide.pdf).

Desktops QuizMaster allows students to take tests created with TestGen on a local area network and the QuizMaster Utility built into TestGen allows instructors to record student test results and view or print a variety of reports. In order to use the QuizMaster system for testing, you will need to install the TestGen program and testbank data as well as the QuizMaster student program. For more information, refer to the "QuizMaster and the QuizMaster Utility" section in the TestGen User's Guide (TG5UserGuide.pdf).

Cognos Installing TestGen for Windows:

Hosting ---------------------------------------------

Netfinity Click on TestGen link on the Install screen to start the installation program. Follow the instructions on the install screens and click Next to advance from one screen to the next. You can install the TestGen program in the default directory of C:\TestGen5 or change the pathname to a different location on your computer. You will get to a screen where you can choose to do a Full Install or a Custom Install.

Internet Full Install
If you are a new TestGen user or if you have an older version of TestGen on your computer, you will want to do a Full Install, which installs the latest version of the TestGen program along with a book-specific testbank all in a single folder. For Windows NT4/XP/2000 the TestGen program will launch itself and install the TestGen fonts in the Fonts folder on your computer. You may continue to use the TestGen program at this time, or you may cancel out of the password screen and run the program again at a later time.

Cheap Computer Custom Install
The Custom Install option gives you the choice to install the TestGen program only or the book-specific testbank only. We suggest that you install testbanks in the same folder or directory where you have the TestGen program installed. If you install only the TestGen program, you can copy testbank (*.BOK) files from earlier versions of TestGen into the TestGen program folder after it is installed.

Locate the TestGen 5 menu item on the Start/Programs menu to start the program, or locate the TestGen5 folder and run TestGen.exe.

Printer Installing QuizMaster for Windows:

Maxtor The QuizMaster program should be installed on the server for a local area network where it can be accessed by students at computer workstations. To install the QuizMaster program for student testing, run qmsetup.exe located in the LAN Utilities folder in the Install\TestGen folder on this CD. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the program and install the program in the folder of your choice on your network hard drive.

Data Storage Note that students need full rights to the directory or folder where the QuizMaster program is installed and to the Records folder. Students will need to have rights to create, read, write, open, and modify files as they use the program. For security, these files are encoded so that they cannot be read as text documents.

Hitachi The QuizMaster Utility program is built into TestGen and gets installed automatically when you install TestGen. The first time you run QuizMaster Utility on TestGen's File menu, you will need to locate the QuizMaster program on the network to link the two programs and to indicate where you want records to be stored.
