Killing Wildlife Is Wrong Geese Included

Laptop Battery Thank you for informing readers about the increased slaughter of Canada geese planned for New Jersey. Some readers have contacted the Animal Protection Institute asking how to eliminate the killing instead ("Trap-and-kill goose permits grow popular, May 17).

If Canada geese simply were a nuisance, killing them might seem a bit much. growing number of geese in New Jersey pose health risks, which is why the U.S. Division of Fish and Wildlife Service's decision to increase the number of geese to be rounded up and killed is a sound one.

About two years ago I spoke to a young farmer who had given up and said he could not farm in this area because of goose damage to his crops.
