Ingredients
- 3 tb Shortening
- 2 ts Baking powder
- 1 1/2 c All-purpose flour*
- 1/2 ts Salt
- 3 tb Chopped fresh
- 3/4 c Milk
- -Parsley or chives
Directions
- *if using self-rising flour omit Baking powder and salt.
Directions
- Cut shortening into flour, baking powder, salt and parsley or chives with pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
- Stir in milk.
- Drop dough by spoonfuls onto hot meat or vegetables in boiling stew (do not drop directly into liquid).
- Cook uncovered 10 minutes.
- Cover and cook 10 minutes longer.
- 10 DUMPLINGS; 105 CALORIES PER DUMPLING.
- To Microwave: Prepare dumplings as directed.
- Drop dough by spoonfuls onto hot meat or vegetables in boiling stew in 3-quart microwavable casserole only around edge (do not drop dough in center).
- Cover tightly and microwave on high 5 to 7 minutes, rotating casserole 1/2 turn after 3 minutes, until dumplings are no longer doughy.
