Optimus Solutions Builds Award-Winning Web Search Engine for City of Marietta
Collaboration Initiatives Showcase City's Focus on Improving Service
NORCROSS, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 22, 2004--Optimus Solutions, a leading provider of Information Technology (IT) solutions, announces that the web-based implementation developed for the City of Marietta has been awarded an Innovation in Information Technology Award by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Technology Center. The solution was developed for officers and investigators of the city to have a quick and easy browser-based "Google-like" search capability of their vast collection of incident data. This search capability can be used both when officers are in the office or on the road, via a wireless network. The IACP Innovation in Information Technology Award recognizes the City of Marietta's superior achievement and innovation in the fields of communication and information technology.

"Marietta's prime focus was to develop an officer-friendly, scalable software search tool for use by our detectives, but with an eye toward deploying this technology out to our patrol cars," said Gene Estensen, MIS Director of the City of Marietta. "This gives our officers the ability to quickly analyze crime data that was hidden away in our mainframe."
Use Adobe tools, clients, frameworks, servers, and services as a complete solution for building RIAs, or use them in combination with other familiar web technologies.

Named M.O.S.T. (Marietta Open-Search Technology), the system allows officers to search crime reports and relate information found in multiple, separate incident case data, with a search engine. The officers' electronic submission of incident data (via incident reports) had, over the years, built a mountain of data with little or no easy mechanism for them to search and retrieve it for investigation and analysis. The process was unfriendly, cumbersome and underutilized the public safety data. The implementation by Optimus Solutions has made this process much more efficient.
To make sure your website is being seen by people using search engines like Google™ and Yahoo!®, it needs to be search engine optimized. Search engine optimization (SEO) can generate quality traffic to your website by making it clear to search engines what your site is about. Once it has that information, a search engine will then rank your site and determine its place on the results page. Basic SEO consists of keyword insertion and link building.
