Orchestria Signs OEM Agreement with FAST

FAST ESP to be integrated into Orchestrias Active Policy Management (APM) Solution

OSLO, Norway and NEW YORK 27 July 2004 Fast Search & Transfer (FAST), the leading developer of enterprise search and real-time alerting technologies, today announced an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partnership with Orchestria, a provider of real-time visibility and control solutions for email, the Web, instant messaging, BlackBerry handhelds and other electronic communications. As part of this agreement, FASTs enterprise search platform (FAST ESP) will be integrated with Orchestrias Active Policy Management (APM) solution, which is already in use at several Wall Street banks.
The combination of the solutions will be offered to Orchestrias customer and prospects to further augment and improve existing search capabilities offered by Orchestrias APM solution. Orchestrias unique active policy functionality means the software can intervene before the communication leaves the senders desktop, giving users the opportunity to review, edit or abandon non-compliant communications before they are sent.

This enhancement of search capabilities will allow more corporate customers to rely on Orchestrias technology to comply with industry legislation and corporate codes such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Corporate Responsibility Act of 2002, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), SEC and NASD regulations, the Basel II Accord, and guidelines laid down by the U.K. Financial Services Authority (FSA).

Search functionality is a vital component of our APM offering, said Peter Malcolm, chief technology officer and founder of Orchestria. Our decision to partner with FAST was based upon the clean, flexible architecture and rich set of functionality offered by FAST ESP, as well as its ability to scale. Through this partnership, we will be able to offer an alternative search capability.

In the current regulatory environment, organizations need to be absolutely certain of the data they hold and its compliance with a range of regulations, legislations and guidelines, commented Ali Riaz, FASTs chief operating officer. FAST ESP will enable Orchestrias customers to immediately identify every online-accessible piece of relevant data that exists or existed at any specified time, making regulatory compliance a much simpler and faster task. We are pleased that Orchestria is integrating FAST ESP into their APM solution, and look forward to a long and successful partnership.

FAST is continually transforming enterprise search from a powerful, yet narrowly perceived function into an enterprise-wide strategic and tactical capability of pivotal importance. FAST ESP and the FAST portfolio of solutions are the latest in a line of FAST technology that marries a no-technical-boundaries approach with a clear understanding of real-world requirements, including extraordinary performance, precise accuracy, broad reach, and high return on investment.

FAST ESP is offered through the FAST Data Search suite of enterprise search solutions, which supplies a complete information retrieval solution ideal for key vertical markets and applications including e-Commerce and Internet Portals, Financial Services; Government; Life Sciences; Media and Publishing; and Telecom.
