SealedMedia Launches New Enterprise Deployment Capabilities for Document and Email Security Solution
LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 2004--SealedMedia Inc., today announced version 3.2 of its widely adopted and proven document and email security solution for enterprises is now immediately available. The new release adds important deployment, administration and management functions making the handling of secure, sealed documents and email simpler for users and more flexible for groups to use across the extended enterprise.
New characteristics of SealedMedia 3.2 make interfacing with other enterprise applications easier, offering smooth deployment, management and administration of applications as well as usability improvements for sealed documents. For instance NT Authentication provides users with single sign-on functionality and support for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, LDAP, and Active Directory keeps user names and passwords consistent across applications.
George Everhart, CEO of SealedMedia explained:
"In many ways our product roadmap has been largely driven by customer feedback. By listening to their comments and suggestions, over the past two years, SealedMedia has been able to engineer a succession of products aimed at satisfying the requirements of our enterprise customers. We have added ease of use improvements for individuals and integrated with important collaboration tools such as Documentum eRoom, which broaden the use of our Document Security Solution across the extended enterprise. We feel this is the market's most mature, robust and well-tested product release for securing documents and emails both inside and outside an organizations perimeter."
NT Authentication - Easier to Use
SealedMedia 3.2 with NT Authentication enables single sign-on for organizations wanting to simplify the user experience when accessing sealed documents. Key ease-of-use and administration benefits are provided, which avoid multiple user names and passwords for each user, reducing the burden on both IT and users. Another benefit is security, as NT Authentication users cannot share their ID's and passwords with users outside the organization.
Groups - Easier to Administer
Administering users in 'groups' enables related information to be dynamically synchronized through the SealedMedia Gateway with LDAP repositories, such as Active Directory Server, ensuring interoperability with existing enterprise applications. With groups, the SealedMedia administrator can more effectively manage the rights and roles of all users across the extended enterprise, including suppliers, partners and customers.
Documentum eRoom for Secure Collaboration
Integration with Documentum eRoom (Sealed eRoom) enables secure web-based collaboration on projects involving confidential information. SealedMedia 3.2 ensures that digital information remains persistently protected within the eRoom itself and extends the security and audit capabilities to files wherever they are even on remote desktops. "We're excited about the level of customer interest in the Sealed eRoom offering which allows customers to securely expand their collaboration efforts by including people from outside the firewall," said Rob Tarkoff, executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Documentum, the leading provider of enterprise content management and a division of EMC Corporation.
More New Features Available in SealedMedia 3.2
Other significant user, manageability and administration improvements to SealedMedia 3.2 include:
-- Password Management - users can change passwords directly from the Unsealer, when online while administrators can enforce password changes when the user first accesses a sealed document. This can also be mandated the next time a user logs on. Administrators can also enforce password complexity rules such as specifying a minimum length and the structure of the password.
-- Offline Working and Activity Logging - enhanced offline facilities including the synchronize licenses facility in the Unsealer maximizes offline license duration. Offline activity can also be tracked and consolidated in the audit trail, which can be integrated with Corporate reporting tools.
-- Silent Installer - facilitates large centralized deployments by IT departments.
-- The Sealer - now includes a 'General' and 'Details' tab in the main pane, which provide useful information on who sealed the document, when it was sealed, which classification it was sealed to, where it is stored and which License Server was used.
-- Unsealer - additional tabs in the Control Panel provide information on file properties and associated rights the user has to the sealed document being accessed.
