Leaving a home or business computer unprotected from spyware is just like leaving the front door open to intruders. The internet was not designed with security checks in place, that is why spywares have spread unchecked and now pose a big threat to the security and privacy of millions of internet users all over the world. Your computer may start running slower 2. Some programs on your computer will not run correctly 3. You may not recognize programs that are now on your computer because they may have been installed there by a spyware related web site or program you loaded on your computer.
Spyware programs embed themselves into the computer and monitor the user's internet browsing activities, spy on confidential information such as credit card info, send annoying pop-up advertisements and slow down your computer's performance. Other consequences of spyware infestation include hijacked browsers resulting to reset home pages, changed search results, spam emails, toolbars added to the browser without consent and many more. In such cases, a spyware remover is necessary to clean up the system from all spyware programs and hidden malware.
There are a lot of ways that a computer can get spyware and its cousin Adware. The most popular ways right now are still by installing programs that have the spyware embedded directly into it and is launched as soon as you install the program. Other ways to get spyware are from visiting webpages that drop Active X controls on your computer or run javascripts and even sometimes from objects placed within emails.
Spyware ranges from the merely annoying, generating popup ads and slowing down your computer and internet use, to the very dangerous, logging keystrokes in an attempt to get at your passwords, account numbers and other sensitive information.
