Citrix Awarded Department of Defense Enterprise Software Agreement
Citrix Access Infrastructure to Power Secure, On-Demand, Access to Information from Anywhere, with Any Device
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2004-- Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that it has been awarded a four-year Enterprise Software Agreement (ESA) from the United States Army Information Systems Engineering Command on behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD). The ESA was awarded as a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) (W91QUZ-04-A-0001) under the DoD Enterprise Software Initiative (ESI).
Citrix access infrastructure provides secure, easy, and instant access to information resources from anywhere, using any device, over any network. Under the terms of the agreement, Citrix has the ability to deliver the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite, Citrix's comprehensive access infrastructure software, as well as associated consulting services, to all components of the Department of Defense via a single contract vehicle and administrative point of contact. The ESA will enable the DoD to consolidate Department-wide purchases and significantly reduce the work and time needed for further purchases at any level of the Department.
"As one of the world's largest global enterprises, the DoD must maintain a fail-safe access strategy for its critical information technology assets," said Mark Goldman, area vice president for government, Citrix Systems. "This Enterprise Software Agreement will allow Citrix to both simplify and speed the deployment of access infrastructure solutions across the entire Department of Defense, ensuring that its application and information resources remain available on demand 24x7 across the globe."
Department of Defense Enterprise Software Initiative
The Enterprise Software Initiative is a joint DoD project to develop and implement a unified software acquisition process across the entire DoD. Focused on streamlining the process of identifying, purchasing, and managing software across an organization, ESI has dramatically reduced the financial and time costs associated with software procurement. DoD, Army, Navy, and Air Force acquisition policy currently mandate the use of ESI as the first stop in software acquisition.
Blanket Purchase Agreement
Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs) are contracting vehicles designed to simplify the fulfillment of anticipated repetitive needs for services and products. BPAs are open accounts that ordering offices establish as an easy tool to order products from the contracting vendor or its resellers. BPAs reduce contracting and open market costs such as: search for sources, the development of technical documents, solicitations, and the evaluation of bids and offers.
The four-year DoD BPA will enable any organization within the Department to purchase a Citrix solution without requiring additional contract negotiation or approval. The products and services included under the BPA are:
-- Citrix(R) MetaFrame(R) Access Suite, which includes:
-- Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server
-- Citrix MetaFrame Secure Access Manager
