Thinkpad Monday's storm brought only 0.2 inches of rain to Atlantic City International Airport in Egg Harbor Township, but another three-fourths of an inch is expected today, said Keith Arnesen, assistant state climatologist and Rutgers Cooperative Extension staff meteorologist.
Minimize use of computers use, sit as far away from the screen as possible; preferably use flat screens. Use wired Internet connections, not WiFi especially for laptops. Keep laptops off of the body and away from metal surfaces.
Microsoft The week's rain is part of a soggy autumn that has brought twice the normal precipitation to the airport since Sept. 1 and has reversed the 2002 rainfall deficit in Atlantic and Cumberland counties.
McGreevey lifted the state's drought emergency on Jan. 8. The state cited heavy rains and 10 months' worth of restrictions on car washing and lawn watering as its reasons for lifting the drought emergency, officials said.
Laptop Computers Those two counties have a surplus of 0.4 and 1.9 inches, respectively, since Jan. 1, according to the National Weather Service's Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center.

Desktop Computer Since Jan. 1, Cape May County's rainfall is about normal, while Ocean County still has a deficit of 4.6 inches, among the highest in the state, according to the weather service.
Notebooks Two national drought indices no longer consider New Jersey in a drought, and Arnesen said it likely is just a matter of time before the governor downgrades the statewide drought emergency to a drought warning.
Lenovo "It wouldn't surprise me to at least see a change of status to a less-severe category," Arnesen said. "I'm a firm believer in not extending something further than it needs to be."
Hard Drive However, other considerations, including politics, might delay the end of the drought emergency, he said.
Travelstar McGreevey declared a statewide drought emergency March 4, clearing the way for the state Department of Environmental Protection to issue water-use restrictions.
Gateway Restrictions have included everything from limits on lawn watering to a construction moratorium in the Atlantic County townships of Egg Harbor, Galloway and Hamilton townships, where the governor claims overdevelopment is threatening water supplies.
Laptop Parts Eliminating the drought emergency would limit the governor's ability to keep restrictions in place.
Software The U.S. Drought Monitor, a partnership of federal and state institutions, indicates New Jersey no longer is in a drought, but merely "abnormally dry." An end to New Jersey's drought also is reflected in the Palmer Drought Severity Index, produced by the National Weather Service.
Hard Drives Those indices might not reflect the full complexity of the state's drought, Arnesen said. Although rivers were flowing at normal levels Monday and reservoirs were filling up, ground water along the coast has been slow to recharge. That is of particular concern in southern New Jersey, where the vast majority of drinking water comes from wells.
Electronics Aquifers in the coastal plain remained at record low levels Monday, according to monitoring wells maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey.
Canon Jeff Tittel, director of the Sierra Club's New Jersey chapter, said depleted ground water in southern New Jersey is one reason to retain the drought emergency and the accompanying restrictions. Also, an El Nino system is developing in the tropical Pacific Ocean, which generally means a warmer and drier-than-normal winter for New Jersey, Tittel said.
Desktop Pc However, Dave Robinson, the state climatologist, said it's unclear whether this year's El Nino will bring New Jersey more or less precipitation than normal.
Desktop Computers But no matter how much precipitation we get, the fall and winter undoubtedly will be wetter than last year, when fewer than 10 inches fell during the six driest months ever recorded, Robinson said.
