Laptop Computer Apple aficionados believe that Jobs Company will be introducing
different varieties of Apple's popular iPod in 2006 with enriched
features and more storage capacity.
(AXcess News) According to a Times' story, Apple Computer Corp. ( APPL) said it would be offering a new iPodphone it was developing in conjunction with Motorola. The new iPod phone, whichis set for unveiling next week, will allowiPod usersto transfer songs from their personal computers to their mobile phones and listen to them via headphones. Apple will unveil its new iPod phone September 7th in San Francisco, according to a story in the New York Times. Apple has said its September 7th show is for a video iPod, though the Times believes Apple will also release information on its iPod phone.
Desktop Computer There is even speculation that Apple iPods will get wireless
Internet connectivity in 2006, a strong possibility considering the
wireless carriers are beefing up their nationwide cellular systems
to provide greater accessibility for wireless computing, though
cost is still a barrier which could push any iPod wireless Internet
connectivity into the second half of 2006.
Notebooks Apple has also been working towards turning its computers into
digital hubs as its MAC mini is believed to be upgraded in 2006 to
offer more features for home use and entertainment.
Lenovo Apple introduced its thin iMAC this fall that offers users
remote access to their music, photos and video from across the room
throughthat feature, giving Apple lovers the belief that the
company will expand its iMAC featuresnext year.
Hard Drive IDC analyst David Daoud said that home computers, dubbed as
"media servers", have been increasing in popularity with 5 million
sold in 2005.
Travelstar Media Servers let users control digital music, video and TV
consumption remotely, which is precisely what Apple's iMAC is doing
- with the exception of controlling television viewing in the same
manner as a cable TV handheld remote control.
Gateway Home media server popularity is also moving into the cable
broadcast TV market as new deals are being cut for view-on-demand
programming that gives Apple's iMAC an edge in the market next year
if Jobs company moves deeper into that arena which many expect to
happen sooner than later.
Laptop Parts It is rumored that Apple will unveil in January an upgrade of
"Front Row," a feature of its iMAC, that will allow users to stream
content purchased from the Internet without storing it on a
computer hard disk.
Software Apple has already set the stage for a move into streaming
content when it announced that iPod and computer users could
download video and popular television shows from iTunes.
Hard Drives Apple is expected to expand its television content access
agreements with more TV networks in 2006, giving it a competitive
edge over other companies like Sony, who has not been able to catch
up to Apple's market share.
Electronics Apple set an all-time record in sales in 2005, chalking up $14
billion in revenue. Apple's stock has matched its stellar sales,
having doubled from its 52-week lo of $30.80 set on December 21,
2004.
Canon Friday, shares of Apple Computer closed at $73.35, down 67
cents.
