Forum Brings Together Leading Software Developers and Supply Chain Executives Creating Real-world Applications for RFID-Generated Supply Chain Data

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA., February 23, 2005 - VeriSign, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRSN), the leading provider of intelligent infrastructure services for the Internet and telecommunications networks, today announced it will be hosting the first ever EPC Developers Conference, www.EPCDevCon.com, in conjunction with RFID Journal LIVE! on April 10, 2005 in Chicago.
The event represents a first-time gathering of software developers and supply chain executives specifically focused on design and creation of practical solutions that leverage RFID-generated information from across the global supply chain. Most of the worlds largest manufacturers have focused efforts on complying with industry mandates, and are faced with the challenge of moving volumes of data online, tracking inventories and getting return on their investments in RFID infrastructure. Developing applications that help create enhanced visibility into the supply chain are crucial to this pursuit.

Were pleased to have the EPC Developers Conference as part of our overall agenda for RFID Journal LIVE! said Mark Roberti, founder and editor of RFID Journal. The application space will be critical for end users to reap the rewards of their work around RFID, and early development efforts in this area will speed that time for return.

Keynoting EPC DevCon will be Tom Kelley, general manager of IDEO, the worlds leading design consultancy specializing in innovation and product development. IDEOs work ranges from design of the Treo 180 handheld communications device to the TiVo remote control to TaylorMade golf clubs. Tom will share his unique insight into driving innovation into the product development process.

Also speaking at the EPC Developers Conference will be leading thinkers and practitioners around RFID and EPC, including Sean Campbell, IBM; Ann Grackin, ChainLink Research; Bernie Hogan, Uniform Code Council; Michael Mealling, Refactored Networks; John Radko, GXS; Mark Roberti, RFID Journal; Sanjay Sarma, OATsystems; Puneet Sawhney, CHEP; Ken Traub, ConnecTerra; Jeff Wells, Franwell and others.

Currently, companies spend billions of dollars each year correcting out-of-stocked inventories, incorrect shipments, counterfeited goods, and trying to locate lost inventories. Developing applications that can help them bring about the promise of RFID and reduce these skyrocketing costs are top priorities. With manufacturing and distribution processes often located in different parts of the world, todays supply chain challenges require cooperation between multiple partners and teamwork among all RFID solution providers. VeriSigns EPC Developers Conference brings these groups together to discuss these multi-billion dollar industry challenges and create solutions.
