Montreal chamber orchestra, pianist to peform

The 28-member I Musici de Montreal chamber orchestra will perform Friday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. with internationally acclaimed pianist Anton Kuerti.
Now in its 18th season, I Musici presents more than 100 performances annually. Recent appearances by the group include concerts in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver and Atlanta. The orchestra also tours extensively each year in Canada, Europe and Asia.
I Musici has played the world's major concert halls including New York's Lincoln Center, Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Tokyo's Kioi Hall, Toronto's Ford Center, Geneva's Victoria Hall and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig.
Founded in 1983, the ensemble is led by conductor and cellist Yuli Turovsky. I Musici performs a wide spectrum of chamber music repertoire ranging from Baroque to 20th Century and including works by Beethoven, Britten, Mozart and Haydn.
I Musici has been the recipient of several awards including "Best Chamber Ensemble of the Year" from the Canadian Council of Music in 1987.
The group offers a wide variety of youth programs, workshops, concerts in which young performers join them on stage and other educational opportunities in conjunction with their tour performances.
Pianist Kuerti has toured 31 countries including Japan, the former Soviet Union and many European countries. He has performed with most major U.S. orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the National Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the orchestras of Atlanta, Denver, Detroit, Pittsburgh, St. Louis and San Francisco. He has also performed with every professional orchestra in Canada, including 35 concerts with the Toronto Symphony.
