World is becoming so fast now, boisterous cities with all the colors of rainbow, I cannot find myself. If you link my peaceful little stone house, come have a .... cup of water. |
The purpose of a letter box is to hold mail, the postman will deposit the mail in the letter box and at a convenient time the mail will be taken out by the owner of the letter box.
In 1809 was the start of what you could call a letter box it was put it the door or walls of post offices were you could
drop off or fetch your mail but in 1849 the British post office encouraged citizens to install postboxes so that there mail could be delivered to there door.
Now days there are two kinds of letter boxes, one were there is a flap in the wall or front door about 12 inches wide by 2 inches high and is covered by a flap to protect the mail from the elements, and has a spring to keep the flap down. Then you have the letter box that is on your front lawn, near the street and that was developed so that the post man didn’t have to make such a detour to every door, it saved time.
But in recent times letter boxes have become more advanced, some letter boxes are remote controlled, making it more secure and so that you don’t have people snooping in your post. As well as strong to resist all element.
There are also letter boxes that are designed to resemble the house that the people live in, especially made possibly one of a kind, and many other unique designs resembling a animal or a tree, bird baths, letter boxes that make noises and many different colors, textures and shapes.
Many people show what are there hobbies are just by looking at there letter box, if you fly plains then you can have a letter box that looks like a air plain, if you like fishing then your letter box can look like a fish, latter boxes have become a form of art, being a compliment to the house.
